Does anyone know the actual grit numbers for the coarse, fine, and ultra fine? What are they made out of and how quickly do they wear?

If you're referring to the Razor Edge Systems stones, Razor Edge rates the coarse at 100g and the fine at 400g. (I've compared them to Sandpaper, and to me they're around 120-220g and 1200g sandpaper, so YMMV). There's no ultra fine that I'm aware of. I believe they're SiC. They hold up really well, especially if you compare the coarse to a coarse waterstone for example.

yeah they dont make an ultrafine, idunno where i got that from. Since they only make 2 grits does it leave the edge pretty agressive and good for slicing? I imagine only going up to 400 grit isnt going to make a very good push cutter.

They rate it at 400g... I think it leaves a finer edge. I can get a push cutting edge with it... no problem.
