Razor Edge Hones

I have their pro kit. If you have any more question, please feel free to e-mail me. My kit comes with thw 2"x8" hones, 2 guides, edge tester and the folding steel.

The coarse hone isvery coarse. you can reprofile a blade fast with it. FAST. i don't know what it is made of, or what grit. All i knw is that you can do your rough work in minutes with it. it probably wears faster than your typical Arkansas (I don't have much experience with Arkansas stones). But Mine still doesn't need to be flattened after 2 years use.

The fine hone won't put a mirror polish on knives, as has been my experience. But I PREFER that! it puts a hair shaving edge that still has BITE to it. Th edge gets a nice satiny finish on it. And it cuts great.

I have sharpened POS stainless knives, ATS-34 and 1095 with my hones, as well as SK-5. None of these have posed a challenge to the hones. I have NOT sharpened the super alloy stuff on my hones, so i can'tt ell you about 420V versus the Razor Edge hones.

Thanks. I have their folding steel and sharpening guides, so I think I'll give their hones a try. They are not especially expensive either.
 
Don't forget to order their book, "The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening." Finally helped me really understand the how's and why's of sharpening.
