Razor Edge stuff - what to expect?

Unlike the all of the other BladeForums members, I'm slightly impulsive in obtaining and maintaining my collections. So yesterday, I called the fine folks at www.razoredgesystems.com for some sharpening guides and a book.

Will my outlook on cutlery maintenance be forever changed? Assuming I don't get any dumber than I currently am, will I finally be able to make my single-edged Applegate-Carebear hair-popping sharp?

Their test stick lets me know when I've done right by my Sharpmaker (though, some arm hair has to come off to check edges that look too shiny :) ), so I'm looking forward to great stuff.

What have your experiences been?

i would like to have the book. Anyone know of local stores that stock it. i.e. Books a Million, Barnes without having to pay shipping.

I really like the razor edge system. I started out by getting the book through ebay. I read it cover to cover and I found what they said about free hand sharpening to be true.

So then I ordered there small guide, wow!
I could not believe the differance a guide made. It worked just like they said it would.

I now have there guides, hones, edge tester, book, video and I'm looking to get there oak case now :)

thombrogan,
Have you gotten your razor edge items yet?
How do you like them?

Mississippi_Dave,
If your have a state library sytem, your local library maybe able to get you a copy from another library in your state.

Edited to add: Forgot I had the folding steel too. Works great. Be sure to try double beveling. I think the instructions for double beveling is for 4" blade and longer, but it works great on my 2 1/2" Spyderco Salsa :)
