Hello i did a search on here to see if this has been talked about but i found my self needing a razor knife every day at work so i bought one of the the folding huskys from the home depot and it fell apart the first day. so i got a new one that day its gone couple days now but it is crap. what folding razor knife do you guys like the best?

I have a Sheffield. I dont know if its a well known brand, or never heard of. My dad got it free at work and gave it to me, but I havnt used it hard. It does feel solid though. Its a lockback, and locks up tight.

I use the original superknife, still available at AG Russell's, I like it, very well made.

I'd just get a good, old fashioned box cutter and not worry about any folding mechanism.

I've got a Stanley that I bought at Walmart back in late 2001 because I needed a thin blade to cut new bridge for my violin before a concert (bridges pick the night before a performance to break) and none of my other knives were thin enough.

I think it was around $10. It still lives in my fiddle case. They're heavy, but if you're not carrying another knife around, the weight shouldn't be much of an issue.

To be truthful when I was using a razor knife daily...and it wasn't unusual to go through 30-40 blades a day...I found I like the retractable quick change Stanley the best rather than the knife type. Nope they aren't as tacticool but the work. For occasional...once or twice a day use I like the small Gerber.

I've tried a couple different ones, but an Olfa-cutter and a belt sheath is the way for me.

SuperKnife. The best ever made, til they disc'od them.

AG Russel has them now? That's good.

The Gerber "EAB" is one of my favorites hands down!!!:D:thumbup:

I bought a "superknife".for work. It's a great knife now but I had to do some modifications to it to get it to lock up.Like file down the spot where the liner is supposed to sit and the part of the inside where the blade closes and rubs the side of the scales.I'd consider it more of a "right place at the right time" instead of "super" knife.

In the remodeling business, including drywall and some asphalt roofing, I favor the Stanley 10-499. Spare blades handy, quick-change nose, wire stripping notch. I find I don't really need the rubber grips some razor knives come with, although if they made a 499 with rubber grips I'd probly buy it.

What he said.
When I used to need a razor knife every day for work, I slipped a Stanley knife into my back pocket. They ain't cool. But they are totally reliable.

whether i am cutting sod, or wrapping or carpet or whatever, i use an olfa knife, if i am putting a lot of work, i use a hb type olfa, blade is probably twice as thick as an lb.

Another vote for the original Superknife, I'll even be more specific and narrow it down to the Superknife II. The one AG Russell sells on his website. Tool-free blade changes. Surprising quality for a 12 dollar item. Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get the Irwin blades. They are bi-metal and will develop a patina if you cut a grapefruit or something, but they hold a good edge and if you're anal enough, you can touch them up on white ceramic stones for a REAL surgical edge. The only problem I've ever had with mine is the fact that the screws come loose all the time. No amount of loctite helps either. I just have to tighten screws constantly. Gotten used to it however. Best folding style razor knife out there. Spyderco was looking at producing of one of these but as far as I know the idea has been shelved.

I thought the EAB had been recalled due to a safety issue. Is yours a post-recall model? I'm almost sure these were recalled just after they were intro'd. I purchased one and didn't send it back as I really liked it (for a money clip) and didn't want to lose it to a recall. Have they been re-released since then?

Its being sold after redesign (on Amazon for example).

I use an aluminum handled lock back from home depot. It's say's Husky on it. Can't find a picture on line. Been using the same one daily for HVAC for 4 years no problems.
