Anyone favour the "razor" pattern pocketknife? The blade shape makes it look quick and easy to sharpen(I'm bad with curved tips).

The blade on my Victorinox Spirit mutitool is like that - especially after I removed the serrations. It is easy to sharpen and practical for most uses, but I do prefer a point.

A good bet would be the Wharncliffe style, since the edge is perfectly straight, but the spine curves down to a pointed tip.

IIRC, I read that the razor pattern was designed so as to be a one-hand opener. Catch the fork at the end of the blade on your pocket and use it to lever the blade open. Supposed to have become popular after the Civil war because a lot of soldiers lost hands or arms.

Never had a yen for it, myself.

the razor is one of those knives, that just grow on you. looking at it is one thing, in your hand is another. it opens easy, because the blade sticks out of the handle. it can be opened without using the nail nick. it does have a point, and can be used as any other knife. if a point is needed. it has a secondary pen blade, which is a pretty good size. the knife measures 3 7/8 '' closed. it's just different. that makes it unique. i really like it, and it has grown on me. take another look at one. ( food for thought )

Do you guys know of any production knives (not straight razors) with such a blade type?

The knife pictured above is not a true razor, but just a knicked blade.

A true razor sticks way up, enough to make the handle a bit awkward. I have a real razor from "Rough Rider" that is an incredible value. Look up the picture at Smoky Mountain Knife Works.com. That "square" blade can't be beat for digging jelly out of a jar or spreading peanut butter. (It cuts good, too.)
