Why is it that razor blades on knives are curved at the end? Let me show you what I mean:

I know this is a POS Frost Cutlery but I couldn't find a picture of the Boker I've been looking at.

Anyway, I thought it odd that the end isn't square or curved outward like a real straight razor. Any clues?

Case knives that have the concave end like the one you are showing are called a "one arm razor". This is designed that way so that you can open it with one hand. Place the tip of the blade against your pocket or the seam on the side of your pants and it is possible to open easily. At least that is my understanding of it.

I have a couple of Case's with the razor blade. I do not know if they still offer it, but will find out. I believ they also had a 2 bladed one. Had the razor blade and a small pen blade. Will check into it and post later tonight.

the reason for the concave cut on the end of a real razor blade is so that you can get around the middle of your nose to shave your upper lip more easily. Not all razors were/are ground like that, it is also a style thing.

Really? I've never seen a straight razor with a concave curve. Mystery solved I guess.

Although I still would like to see that Case you were talking about, artsig1.

Disco, I can not find anything on Cases web page about the razor blade shape. But I do know that I have two of them. This must be a discontinued model. The info I gave still holds. Sorry I can't post pictures.
