What is the best or favorite way to sharpen your Becker knives.
What do you use and why.
How do you get the right angle.

I use a bench stone, specifically the Smith's Tri-Hone system with the coarse, medium, and fine grit Arkansas Stones. I feel out the angle by looking at where the edge meets the stone and hold that angle as I sharpen. In my experience I get a paracord push-cutting, hair shaving, paper whittling edge when I do it well.

Hopefully I will soon get a Lansky system and hone my BK-09. Can't wait !

i usually use a spyderco sharpmaker with the extra ultra-fine stones. i like that system because i can quickly get my knives shaving sharp without really putting effort into it. while hiking though i carry a dmt diafold course/fine in case i need to touch up the edge.

I use this:

I sharpen all my knives from Becker's to monster khukuris/machetes on a 1"X30" belt sander, I have been doing this for a little over a year.. Its obviously freehand so you create your angle.. I have gotten rid of my large sanding stones...

but you know what?? I really miss the time spent with a water stone, and may have to get another one soon..

I have zero experience with sharpening 'systems' so I have no comment, but I know I'd like to try one someday..

Old school man

Put a glove on , grab a Norton fine India and follow the 20 deg. , first in small circles finishing with along the edge swipes. In the bush same thing, but with a DC4 or DMT stick.

Ceramic rod usually, but since hearing about this fancy shmancy "convex" business sandpaper and a mousepad. I am not that great at it yet.
