This is the first knife off the new KMG rotary platen.:D It's a boar hunting knife I've been wanting to do for awhile. It's S7 steel with an 8" blade, full brass guard and buffalo horn scales. Hope to use for it's intended purpose one day but for now it will make a good camp knife. Thanks for looking

Scott,
Very nice knife.
Looks like it would be an excellent choice for a Hog hunter! :D

;) That's the ticket , How wide is the blade? I would love to see this one in stag.
Thanks guys. Goodmanfj, the blade is 3/16" thick and 1 1/2" wide. Funny you say stag, I was going to use it but, at fifty some dollars a pair for scales I declined and went with what I had.

I've been watching you improve since you started making knives here. You've been improving step by step....looks like you just took a good sized leap with this one.

Thanks everyone. Goodmanfj, I know what you mean about the stag. It's my favorite. I had some fun with this knife yesterday cutting up a tree that blew down in the wind. I used it and my Gransfor Bruks axe.
This was what It looked like before I started.

This was the pile after I finished. I still need to get out the chain saw for the trunk.

Damn Razorback you just keep getting better and better. I really love the looks of that one, but I honestly haven't seen too many of your designs I wouldn't buy. Except the Nessmuk, but only because I'm not a fan of upswept skinners. That is a sweet looking knife itself.

Lagarto

I'm not a big fan of guards on knives. They do add to the appearance. The problem I find with this knife is there is no manuerability. It's a good design for it's intended purpose, stabbing and is a good chopper. To do fine work and or choke up is tough because the guard gets in the way. Lagarto, have you ever held a Nessmuk design? You'd be surprised how comfortable that design is in the hand. I wasn't to keen on it at first until I held one. It is certainly a very popular knife. BTW, thanks for the kind words.;)

Razorback, I admit I've never actually held a Nessmuk, so you're right that may change my mind. I never really used to like Persians either until I handled a nice little browning Persian/Skinner cross. Still not a huge fan, but if done right I can get used to the design. I tend to go for hard use style outdoors/survival knives though, which is why I gravitate to your designs and especially to the one above. Great chopper etc.. For finer things I carry either a BM Nimmy cub, or a swiss anyway. The guard may be somewhat impractical sometimes, but I think on this piece it looks great. Really goes well with the bright finish and shiny buffalo horn IMHO.

Lagarto

You're right about the guard Lagarto. They are just a pain in the ass to make.:D Especially by hand. I usually carry a smaller fixed blade so a guard on it isn't really an issue.
