The SFNO's and Razor's are very popular lately so I got a chance today to shoot this photo...

Hopefully it's good comparison material for the newer members:

yeap....Still I like the HR better. Same Belly for cutting but stabbier for pokeing stuff that needs poked.

I like the HR better too, unless minor chopping comes into play, then I'd prefer one of the original SFNOs with the saber grind instead of a full flat grind...

Nice pic bro.

I love both these knives, but I just can't get around how much I dislike the pommel on the HR. Oh well. Thanks for the great pics!

Wow, thanks for posting these pics. I had no idea they were so similar. By the looks of things, I'd pick the HR over the SFNO. I would have never guessed that!

Crafft,

I'd like to thank you for this thread. You're distracting the Hogs with the mighty Hell Razor. ;)

A few more quotes like this and finding a Mag Handled SFNO will be a cakewalk!

:D :D

Beautiful pictures, guys!! I do love my Hell Razor...but I look forward to trying out a SFNO some time!! :D

A girl needs a knife...

It helps a lot to see both knives together. They are much closer in shape than I thought. Still, gotta have both.

I love my Outlaws, but I'm hoping to be able to make an in person comparison with the Hell Razor soon, maybe even today, if the postman cooperates.

OK, I'll ask the newbie question... what function do the ribs milled into the blade perform? They look pretty cool, like shark gills. I know the theoretical arguments for fullers on blades, but beyond bloodletting, do they compromise or reinforce structural rigidity or improve flexibility? Just a curious question.

The grooves are called corrugated blade technology (CBT). They allow a blade to have the same stiffness as a heavier blade without the weight. They also reduce friction because of a reduction of surface in contact with the substrate being cut. They also look really cool!

What about the pommel do you dislike so much?

I prefer at least one point on the pommel. It is a working feature for me, and the triple round-bump doesn't work for me as well. One other thing bothers me about it, with the angular design of the blade, the curvature of the pommel doesn't finish well to my eye. But all this is based on my tastes and opinion, and not meant to detract from others preferences.

Right, right! The HR is the be all, end all of knifedom. You all need as many as you can get. Sell all your SFNOs, so you can buy all the Hell Razors.

Seeing them side by side is surprising to me, I didn't realize they were nearly identical. Different pommel, swedge, CBT, but nearly the same knife. This is why I own two HR's with two ganzas on the way. Same knife, half price. I would like to add a SFNO to the stable but no way can I justify the stiff increase in price tag, especially now that I have seen them side by side. There you go 360joules!
