some general comments on razors & assessories. started with these in early 70s. like many of you in the years that followed, i wondered why they had such poor resale. i will try to relay items of interest in future posts & maybe some of it will be of interest. most my early finds were at flea markets & junk shops, as a carpet cleaner i queried customers if they might have some they wanted to sell since i collected & the items would continue to have a long life. for the most part the sentamentality precluded relinquish of these items.as fellow formites know the razor industry was almost totally dominated by the english & germans, the reason so many survived was because back then a razor could cost a man's wages for an entire month. pocketknives cost a few pennies at most. hollow ground razors did'nt really evolve until the 1860s & 1870s. as you can envision great skill on grinding wheels was required to produce such a product. if these comments so far are old hat & uninteresting let me know & i wo'nt keep threading. being an ole timer i might have knowledge of interest, if so i'll continue in future since it's a long storey.
