Rc-3. Canvas Micarta or linen?

Hey guys,

Deciding on another RC-3 but I don't know If I want the canvas, or the linen. The canvas seems to only come with the rc3mil model though. However the glass breaker is a big turn off to me, but I could overlook it if the handles felt better.

Which do you prefer and why?

dont forget you can get orange G10

i dont think there is a marketable difference between them, no matter what you get you will like it

I have a 3 mil with the canvas scales. I like them allot. Im getting my RC6 on Wednesday which will have linen instead of canvas micarta and ill post here again once i compare the2.

i posted this a couple of weeks ago..

i got the RC3 with canvas micarta... i have the RC6 with linen... and i like the canvas better... it seems a bit rougher and better grip than the linen...

just in case... i got my RC3 with sheath system for 92 bucks shipped...

You get canvas with the desert tan model and you can get it with a modified pommel.

Sand it down then.

A belt or palm sander will smooth that right down.

purchase the Desert Tan version with modified pommel . ( rounded off version) ..comes with Canvas micarta :thumbup:

why do people recommend the rounded pommel?

rounded pommel........I missed the thread or you posted on weekend and I dont do weekends

Rounded pommels dont poke your huggables

I've got an RC-3 and an ESEE-4 with grey linen micarta. No complaints, but nothing to compare them with yet.

I like linen, it's a little softer on the hands for me. Looks good too.

1. You never said you didn't like the standard pommel.
2. ESEE has a website which mentions modified pommels.

I have a DT RC-3 and like it a lot. That being said, all the rest of my RAT/ESEE knives, (except the junglas), have linen scales. If I absolutely had to pick, I would go with the linen micarta. It seems to have just as much grip, but is actually a little softer. If that makes any sense. IMHO, linen scales are the way to go.

Well i got my RC6 in the mail about 20 minutes ago. (GREAT looking knife). By feeling it a little the linen micarta is a little smoother than the canvas but still quite grippy. I would be happy with either one as handle material.
