I want an RC-3 but was wondering what the grip is like for those with large hands. Also, does the boot clip work ok for belt carry?

Thanks

well i just got mine in yesterday, i have large hands, i feel that the handle feels great. my index finger feels a little odd in the choil, but it is very comfortable. i would get one. :D i cant say about the boot clip though, i have heard that it rides high on the belt.

Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I like to carry between my pant waist and belt, clipped to my belt. How do I accomplish this with the RC-3 or RC-4? I like it to be a clip.

i think that could work, you would just have to mount the clip on the other side of the sheath, i imagine it would work just fine.

Molle backing but it does not use a clip...... I not saying you can not used the supplied clip in that manner but be aware the clip was not designed for that method and clip is plastic.

I use the Tek-loc and works fantastic too !!! knife sheath can be removed w/o removing belt

get a tek-loc my friend... problem solved, or use the boot clip and tether the sheath with some para for a safety

ESEE-3 has good scales for large hands, I have no issues with it at all. Scale feel good and don't leave hotspots like a lot of blades out there will.

I've worn RC-3 for about a year IWB with no problems. I'm now wearing the HEST like that until I get one of those fancy leather sheaths :)

I am a right handed fellow so I put the clip on the outside of the sheath. The opposite side of the knife as I would if I were going to wear it on the MOLLE sheath, if that makes sense, and slip it into my belt, between my belt and my pants. This has worked very good for me so far.

Now I don't know large your large hands are but I wear a size large glove by most makers, and the RC 3 fits my hands just fine, its a little thin, and doesn't quite fill out my hand as much as some of my other knives. But on the other hand it is my easiest carrying knife and while using it for extended periods of time I have no issues what so ever, no hot spots and no discomfort. Also it works very well in various hand positions.

I hope this helped.

Easy.

Put the clip on the OUTSIDE of the sheath. If you are going to carry it behind the right hip, the clip is on the right side of the sheath.

You will find that this is even easier if you stuff the sheath on the inside of your pants, with the clip over the belt. It protects and secures the knife and allows the same level of access as between the pants and belt.

It will be easier to re-sheath as well, but SLOW DOWN and learn to do this correctly or you'll be posting pictures of how you stabbed yourself in the ass with your RAT.

If you are using a stock RC4 sheath, attach a little loop of cord just wide enough to go around your belt at the choil and run your belt thru this. The knife will ride with you all day and you'll never even notice it.

Let me know if you require pics of this.

That's how I carry, I loop paracord through the holes for a belt loop. With a 1.75" belt it really pulls in tightly.

I wear extra large gloves and I love the RC-3 handle.

I have met people with larger hands than mine, but I am definitely on the large end of the bell curve... And I find the handle to be comfortable, especially for a knife this size.

I don't know if you can do it well with the included attachments, but Blade-Tech makes the IWB Loop specifically for this purpose...
