I bought a RAT Cutlery (Now ESEE) RC-3 from a guy a couple of years ago and he said it was D2 steel. Did RAT(ESEE) make the RC-3 in D2?

It's not an Ontario made RAT. It's definitely a RAT (ESEE). Its got ROWEN on the reverse side of the blade.

Nope. Either he's not admitting that it is an Ontario or he is very stern about his knife knowledge

Here is a photo. It's definitely a RAT (ESEE).

Then it is not D2. It's 1095. The RC-3 was never made in D2. The RAT-3 was. RAT-3 was made by Ontario, the RC-3 is made by Rowen. Hope that helps!

its prob. 1095, and im not sure how to tell what type of steel i blade is. I have a couple knives that i wish to know about...

All of you are correct. I went back and read an email from the guy I bought it from. He said it wasn't D2, but 1095. I just thought I remembered him saying it was D2. My memory is slipping.
