Micarta is a layered cloth pressed with an epoxy. It can be made out of just about any cloth, some having better traits than others.
I have a RC-4 with micarta handles and it's been great, no complaints at all.

I have an RC4 with the canvas micarta handles and an RC6 with the linen micarta handle.
Micarta is an excellent material being very stable and durable. the linen micarta seems a bit smoother than the canvas when dry but seems to exhibit a bit more grippiness when wet. No problems with either from my end.
You can't go wrong with any RAT cutlery product.

I've seen a few knives listed on auction sites with that same handle description. I wonder who produces these handles, King John?

Micarta is great, nice an cool in my hands. Very textured, but smooth feel to it.
