Well...I finally got a 3MIL, and, I must say that all the lusting over it I had been doing for the last few weeks was not in vain. I could sum this review up with four words...I love this knife...but what fun would that be eh?

This thing is really sweet!

It's the first ESEE knife I've gotten with the molle back, which is really cool. It's even set up so that making it a drop sheath will be a breeze.

This knife comes with even more carry options than the others, which is awesome. I really like this belt/boot clip attachment too, that's how it is set up now and on my side at the moment.

I like the retention of the sheath too, it fits like a glove, nice and tight.

It whittles like a dream.

I had hoped to do something a little more "bush-crafty" today but no break in the rain...it barely stopped long enough yesterday for me to mow the lawn and do the trimming and then rain all day today. So instead for now it's Bourbon Maple Pork Loin 3-MIL Style. This is going to be great at camp cooking!

Even with the serrations it sliced the loin just fine.

It handled the potatoes very well too. I wasn't making potato chips but mashed potatoes, just wanted to see how it sliced.

And the mushrooms

Then Lisa used it to dice some cheese for the potatoes.

And then the rest of the progression :)

Stay tuned for more bushcrafty type stuff when the rain gives me a break....I know the knife would handle it fine...but not so much the camera :(

Nice review..nice pics.

I'm hungry now:D

Btw..I notice you went with the serrations..can I ask why?

Thanks man, glad you liked the review, supper was pretty good tonight :)

Because I like how ESEE serrations are made, and I like how they help with things like notching trap triggers and hearth boards.

do you like it more than the HEST?

On some levels yes...on some levels no. It will be my usual edc now because I like the serrations and the extra blade length of the 3 MIL, and I love the sheath system! However I do like the steel thickness of the HEST better. I'm pretty sure the HEST could handle rougher use a lot better. Now...if the 3 MIL was even done in 5/32 like the Izula plus having the serrations? I'd definitely choose the 3 MIL no questions asked. As it is now if I had to choose just one? Honestly...I'm not sure yet. I still have more to do with the 3 MIL before I will know.

That is a great knife I'm glad you finally got it and love it as much as you do. My RC3 gets more belt time then any of my other ones, except my Izula I wear that one around town a lot. You really need to get out and play with it in the woods, I love how you can barely tell its on the belt but it works like a ox. Also as you showed it is great in the kitchen too. They really did make one hellova knife here. Although I am with you I like to something like this in 5/32, but I do love the wicked slicing ability of the 1/8.

Great knife pics, the food pics were just plain uncalled for. It's 7:30 am and I now want a dinner meal. Thanks a lot!

Dude, you committed a serious offense there. . .

. . .YOU CUT UP YOUR MUSHROOMS!!!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

The knife pics were awesome, the food was uncalled for...now Im hungry as heck...be careful cooking with your 3 ;P got slippery and cut my finger :D Hahahaha. Have I mentioned I've done this twice? my pinkys got this little slight stab/slice. lol.

How is sheath retention on the ESEE-3Mil? I have the Ontario RAT-3 and the sheath is darn stiff and nearly impossible to unsheath from a belt. Is it easy to do one handed with your thumb?

Thanks

The 3mil has become one of my all time favorites and is my current EDC. Great review and pics:thumbup:
