How much more does the RC-4 fill the hand vs. the RC-3, if at all? Since the handles have the same length and height can you measure the difference in thickness between the two?

Thanks

The RC-4 does "fill the hand" slightly more just because it is thicker. The extra weight of the blade probably has something to do with that feel as well, but both are nicely balanced.

It is a tough call. I love my 3mil but the 4 seems like the perfect all around knife.

Thanks for the pictures, I did not actually know there was such a drastic difference in blade thickness between the RC-3, RC-4, and RC-5

From what I have the RC-3 is just right for edc.

The RC-4 feels heavy but the RC-6 feels just right for its size.

Nice pics! The Sawvivor and the RC-5 were my camping duo this year. They both work great!
For more everyday tasks my RC-3 gets the call.

Great comparison! Although I still can't decide between the two for my next purchase....

If I can be of any help...

The 3 seems more suited to EDC tasks, if I could EDC a fixed blade in cali I'd probably carry my MIL. It definitely gets the job done at camp chores, but the little extra blade size of the 4 is about the perfect camp size knife for me. I like it more for food prep and other various chores than the shorter 3.

So, depends what you need, and how you operate.

For me, the three just feels sharper, and while it's on the smaller end of the RAT lineup, it is by no means a small knife. They all have their uses and places, which is why I have them all. But I have one RC4, and three RC3's, and I'm planning on getting more threes. It's a knife you can carry and just totally forget about. Don't think about it carrying it, dont think about it using it. Aside from chopping and batoning, there isn't a task it's restricted in, and it can be pressed into that duty as well. It's thin and light, and you can't beat the carry options. That said, it's not like I've retired any of the rest :) Love my 6 too.

I bought the RC-3 with the consideration that it's thinner, and its doing great as an oversized edc so far. I prefer it over the Izula.

Its always great to see comparison shots - especially since so many folks visit here while tryng to decide on a RC - its a huge help!
