Hey men  . I need to get a bit of info regarding the orange G10 RC-3. Is the G10 finely cut so it offers plenty of grip? Reason I ask is, I'm a hunter so my hands are usually bloody or wet when things get serious.

I just bought an Izula for my daughter, looks like a little champ. Think I need a RC-3 :D

I have an RC-3 in Orange/OD. Have had it wet, bloody and muddy. No problem with grip. In fact I just used it cut up a whole pile of chicken pieces for dinner tonight. RC-3 makes an excellent hunting blade. Light and fine enough to handle gutting and skinning, yet robust enough as a serious field/bushcraft knife.

Is it as grippy as the micarta?

Very nice RC-3 there  . Is that an official RAT Cutlery sheath? Love the flint setup on it

The leather sheaths are an exclusive from Knives Ship Free, not RAT Cutlery. Nice sheaths, BTW.

If you are concerned about grip, the green canvas on the desert tan is the grippiest option you can get IMO. If you wanted orange for visibilities sake, you could just get a bright lanyard.

I just received a orange/OD RC3 from the-knife-connection.com. The G10 is grippier than I thought it would be. Its not as grippy as the micarta, but should be plenty grippy enough. Hunting is my primary use for it.

I think it is worth noting that most of the grippiness of these knives doesn't come from the handle material. IMO it comes from the well designed handle. The shape naturally has plenty of traction in the hand.

I just ordered my first RAT today - RC-5 Green Canvas Micarta, OD Blade, OD Eagle Sheath, Plain Edge. Needless to say I am pretty excited.

It would appear that I have RAT fever because now I want to get a RC-3, but not just one. I really like the orange G10 handle with OD blade and several other color combinations. It seems nuts to have the same knife, just in different colors and features.

Welcome to the RAT pack and to Bladeforums!

It's not crazy to have multiples, "Two is one and one is none".:D

Another important aspect is the fact that Micarta & G10 are impervious to moisture so water, blood or any other liquid will not apsorb into the material. This greatly helps to make them more "grippy". I have no doubt that you would be satisfied with the performance of Micarta or G10 under wet conditions.
