We're thinking about releasing an optional version of the RC-3 that will have the rounded pommel instead of the glass breaker. Pricing and sheathing will be exactly the same. This will be another line item and the standard RC-3 with glass breaker will still be part of the line.

Why? Well, we listen to customer feedback. While most of the folks in the tactical community want the glass breaker, there have been several comments from outdoorsmen that lean towards an RC-3 without a glass breaker. Since this is an easy option to do without any tooling changes, we will probably start offering it soon.

This is a really impressive response time given the short introduction time frame of the RC-3. It certainly demonstrates outstanding committment to customers from the RAT cutlery team. Great work and looking forward to the RC-6 availability!

When we started RAT Cutlery, we made a promise to be responsive to customers as quickly as possible. We may not be able to do everything we would like to do, but we're giving it our best shot. The optional model of the RC-3 was a needed item since outdoorsmen really don't need the same pommel as the tactical guys want. It just makes sense to offer this option since a lot of people like this size/style of knife.

I am looking forward to acquiring one of these without the glass breaker!
Great knife!

Customer Service and a great product is what makes me coming back. I'll be ordering one of those for sure!

excellent blade and one of the best customer service....mixed with a great product USA made, I am sold....RC3 inbound !!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff,

That is great news. I'm one of those that expressed the desire for the RC3 without the glass breaker right from the get-go. Thanks.

THANKS!!! i was wondering if ever such a model would come out. kinda like an improved version of the RAT-3 :D

so while we're on listening to customers, how about a "long blade" version of the RC-3/RC-4??? i want to see the same 4.5" handle from the RC-3/RC-4 coupled with a 6.5" long, 3/16" thick, 1.25" wide blade. that'd kick soooo much ass... it'd be thinner, lighter and if you can maintain good balance, faster in the hand. obviously not for chopping and such, but it would be better for vegetation and camp kitchen chores. hopefully you can also run a thinner edge on these blades that are NOT meant to chop and are meant to slice and cut.

if not, how about small runs or custom orders for these kinda "projects" in the future?

ok here's a photochop. maybe people will see this and want one as much as i do :D

nope. i like the smaller, thinner profile of the RC-3 handle but want a lil longer blade.

i currently have a RAT-7 and a RAT-3. i assume the RC-6 is very similar to the RAT-7 which isn't exactly a small knife. the blade is 1.5" wide and the handle slabs fill your hands. it's not heavy but i wouldn't call it light either. heavy duty? you bet.

but i don't want such a heavy duty knife, per se. i already have a RAT-7, rangers, swamp rats, busses, etc for that :D what i want is a light, quick, compact cutter. the RC-4 looks great and i plan to one soon, but i'd love to see one with even more blade length on it. about 5.5-6.5" would be great.

one of my all time favorite knives is the Dozier KS-7 Wilderness. 5" blade, 9 7/8" OAL, 0.200" thick. it fits exactly into the kinda knife i'm talking about. light, compact, all around utility with a very useful blade length, though i personally would want just a tad more. definitely NOT a chopper.

the RC-6 is a great blade i'm sure but it is more of a combat/camp/chopper kinda knife. totally different feel than what i'm after.
