Had to report in and comment on the performance of my OD RC-3 has worked beautifully in the field dressing and skinning of a doe (archery season) and a buck (muzzleloader yesterday) so far this year. It has officially replaced the Gerber that I have used for the last 10 years. Perfect size. Great balance. Thanks RAT Cutlery for such a great knife.

When I first handled an RC-3, the first thought that came to mind was that it would be a great knife for field dressing and skinning whitetails. Congrats on the knife and deer.

I havent gotten to try my RC-4 on deer yet. Hopefully I will be as happy as you are. I still plan on getting a RC-3 very soon. Good luck for the remainder of the season.

Congrats on getting a couple deer! I've only gotten out once archery hunting this year, and no success yet. Might try again this weekend. Rifle season is not far away, hopefully I will have some success then as well.

The RC-3 is an excellent knife for processing deer. It's one of my favorites for the job.

Thanks guys for the comments. Still have 4 more tags on my base license. East of the Blue Ridge Mtns in Virginia is overrun with deer. We get 6 base tags (3 either sex and 3 antlerless only) and then can purchase bonus tags if wanted. For the first time, EVERY day of the general firearm season is open for does to try to thin the herds. I will do my best to help. Anything after 3, the deer goes to Hunters For The Hungry program to help feed the homeless. Very worthy cause in my mind.

Good luck to the rest of my fellow hunters out there.
