I've seen a few RC-3MIL knives, but this particular one looks a bit different. Especially the sheath, which has the RAT logo engraved on it (never seen this on any ESEE or RAT knife before this one). Is this an earlier model of the RC-3MIL (the version that was only available to law enforcement and military personnel)? Just wanting some information on this knife as it's slightly different than the one's I've seen before.

The old Ontario made RAT 3's didn't have any logo on the sheaths but the Rowan made Rat Cutlery RC-3's sheaths all had the Rat cutlery logo on them, including the 3mil. When they changed their name to ESEE they took off the logo.

Here's a thread by Mistwalker showing his RC-3mil and as you'll see it has the logo on the sheath too: Mistwalker RC-3 MIL Initial Impressions

Looks like a regular RC-3MIL to me.

Was the pommel sharpened on the earlier versions or only on the current one?

The regular 3 (which I own) has a pointy, but unsharpened, pommel. The modified pommel 3 has a rounded pommel. The 3 MIL has a pointed and sharpened pommel. As a MIL, the one pictured should have a sharpened pommel, but it is difficult to see if it does in that picture. Some people grind down the tip if they find it digs into their sides while sheathed.

That's exactly like mine. I have the foliage green sheath. Sharpened pommel. It will say Rowen on the obverse side. If it says Rowen, it's the real deal and will be just as good...it will be the same...and the newer ESEE named products. I like the ESEE logo better too. Great knife.
