Well I just couldn't wait. First day of Spring and my first RC arrives. So I gave it a wicked convex edge and took it out to play.

This is some hard oak, but the steel in this blade takes a great edge and holds it.

And after all that, it still shaves. Great steel. Great little knife!

Hi HD,
Nice pics bro!

Just curious, why did you sharpen the serrations so aggressively? Why not just get a PE?

thanks!

Damn Vic - nice work! I'm lovin' mine as well.

You've almost got some "recurve" going on! Looks sharp though - for sure.

Great pictures but may I ask why you erroded the Serrations ?

They still work. But I can do fine notching and cutting better near the choil. When I went to reprofile the edge, I just tried to maintain the same angle through the whole blade edge and it ended up sort of a recurve effect. It sure cuts, though.

I remember HD tried to get a PE but was sold out so received a SE, Now I would like Jeff to chime in or Mike about a warranty on the blade after the Serration were nearly erased from the blade,I know it did not harm the blade but just a little insight on this matter ,say HD broke the tip sent it in and RC looks at the blade and then what ?

I never damaged the heat treat. Kept it cool. This is some great steel. When you work it, you can tell. This is a great knife. I'm not recommending this. I do it to all my blades, though.

Simple. We would replace it.

While we do not suggest anyone do what HD did to his knife since there is a real chance of ruining heat treat (not to mention making it look ugly :), if we started writing all sorts of exclusions, it would take a New York lawyer to figure it out and we refuse to be that complicated to deal with.

Somewhere down the line someone is going to break or ruin a knife and we will replace it. It's just part of doing business. We take folks on their word that they're honest and not doing anything to intentionally harm the knife, but we still warrant against intentional abuse also because sometimes you need a knife to do some things it's not designed for.

The last thing I would do is intentionally hurt anyone's feelings, but, yes, your knife is now ugly :D

Holding my RC-4 up to your first pic I can see that you did a great job following the profile - how/what did you use out of curiousity.

That being said, I don't think that I could do that to mine - that's just me though.

Not one of my best efforts, I'm afraid, but it works. I used a cheap 1 x 30 belt sander. Best in all China. All China.
