RC-4 choil

My dad just purchased an RC-4 off e-bay and the seller had filed the blade by the choil. About an 1/8 on an inch if I remember right. He stated that he had big fingers and the blade was to close to the choil. Is the choil on the 4 smaller than the 3? Has anyone also done this? The 4 is going to be my next RAT knife and I was just curious.
 
Kinda small for me as well, but not a problem as long as you're paying attention to what you're doing. I actually like the rc-5 the best and it has no choil, but a much bigger handle.
 
i find it a little small as well. when i got my rc-4 i was so excited i started handling it and carelessly choked up on the choil to much and got bit pretty good. well now i know lol

I too could use a slightly larger choil area. My finger is really close to the edge when I choke up on the grip. Filing 1/8 inch off the blade sounds like a good fix but cannot bring myself to do it. If it ever bites me pretty good and pisses me off, then I might do it. Until then, I will leave it as is.
