I'm going to (try to, I suck at sharpening) sharpen my RC-4 and I was curious what the factory angle was.

sounds about right. I hit mine on the 30 degree side of my sharpmaker. very sharp.
(thats 15 a side)

20 was what I had found, but was wanting to know for sure. Knife sharpening is not one of my strengths, but then again what I've always considered "sharp" was booted when I started hanging around here! :D

Lansky sharpening system. I'm not too hot on it so far. Got a junk knife very sharp last night and my RAT just hasn't gotten there yet. I've put it to some pretty hard use since I've had it.

Just keep at it. Lansky's will reprofile whatever they come across. You might want to move the clamp for better results.

Thanks, wong. I had been working on it off and on, taking my time for over an hour. I've got it pretty close and made just a few passes each with the medium and fine hones and she's getting pretty sharp.

Jeff, the RC-4 is a fiiiine piece of cutlery my friend. My favorite blade and it's quickly becoming my favorite piece of outdoor gear, period.

Lanskys are nice for small folders. On big fixed blades they're kind of problematic
