Love the canvas micarta handle on my new RC-5. I've seen that the RC-3 is available with it also (MIL version) - but what about the RC-4? I think the -4 is the ideal length for me to EDC.

But I would love an RC-4 with a canvas micarta handle! Any plans for one?

"The RC-4 DT has canvas handles."

They do? Awesome - that was the color i was going to order. Are all the DT colored canvas? or do i need to be specific about the one i choose?

Are you looking for canvas micarta material or the color of canvas?
I 'm pretty sure that the scales are canvas micarta as opposed to linen or paper micarta. Unless of course you want the G-10

Do some use linen micarta?

yep the canvas handles on rc-3mil are same as rc-4 in dessert tan colors - LOVE CANVAS (and my RCs :D)!

Hi Gringo - yes, I was looking at actual canvas micarta, not color. I've confirmed, as Trailwolf has told me, that RC-4 DT color uses canvas (orange in G-10 and others in linen) micarta.
Mikel - where could I get instructions to make my own? That would be an interesting project, though I might not be patient enough when wanting one on an RC-4....

I have made a few knives so far and... well... I am just affraid to use wooden handle slabs (worried about shrinkage, etc... wood is a live material!). I made my first slab or home made micarta more than a year ago and since then, I have made quite a few slabs (some of them still unusued). I make them out of old jeans or new canvas cloth (great choice of colors). I have a few post in the knifemakers area with my crappy knives just in case you want to see the different micarta colors I made so far.

THIS is the post I wrote about my first scales. I made them for a RAT-7. After the pictures in the post you will find a link to another post in BritishBlades forum with a great tutorial about making it. I just checked it and it is still working so just go there and check it out. I hope it helps.
