Ok, so I've had my eye on a few knives for hard wear field use. I was wondering if you guys felt strongly towards one or the other, the RAT rc-4 or the SERE
Thanks

By "SERE" I am assuming you mean RC-5 SERE, if that is the case then there really isn't much of a choice. The RC-5 SERE isn't out yet and wont be out for a bit (they *just* got the RC-6 out the door and next is the IZULA :D ).

I have the RC-4 and it is awesome! I think it's the perfect field knife and will stand up to just about anything.

Judging by the destruction test done on the RC-4 at knifetests.com, the RC-4 should stand up just fine to hard field use. The RC-5 will obviously be tougher, due to the fact that it will have the same steel and heat-treat that the RC-4 does, only it'll be 0.25" thick! Of course, it won't slice as well as the RC-4 does, due to the thicker blade. Personally, I'd go with the RC-4 over the RC-5 for most things, although I plan on getting both eventually.
