Well I haven’t even received my first Rat, a Izula, and already looking to purchase the next one. I'm looking at the RC-4 and I'm a big fan of the OD blades and they only come with the orange G-10 scales. The question for any of the veteran Rat owners is there any noticeable difference in the grip of G-10 and the canvas or linen mircarta? Meaning more slippery?

wish i could help u bro. i have th micarta handles on my rc4 and never had a problem even when its full of blood elbow deep in a deers rib cage

hi, i dont have the rc4 but i do have the ratpack rc3 with orange g10 and the rc6 with micarta, both are very similar, excellet grip even wet.

you will like it.

Thanks for the quick responce. I stated it was the RC-4 but it would apply to any of the models with the G-10 slabs. I have the knife sitting in my cart on the website just need to click the pay now button.

Lol welcome to the addiction. If you didn't get the molle back, I highly recommend it if your not using molle gear. No I'm not drunk, you read that right. :)

Both are very good in my opinion. I'm another RC-4 micarta and RC-3 G-10 owner. Very nice either way.

The micarta is more slip resistant when wet. The little fibres of the material expand and make it grippy. You don't get the same effect on the G10. When dry, the two are comparable.

yep got one in my hand as we speak, grippy and itz got a little oil also.............

I just like the OD blades so I had to get the G-10. If it does get a little loose in the hand when wet I can always rought it up a little with some sand papper. Now if the come out with the RC-6 in OD I'm in real trouble. :D

I dont worry about the looks of my blades, but does micarta stain easily? Blood, mud, etc?

Don't have any micarta RATs but I've never had a problem with micarta-handled knives in the past. I have an orange G-10 RC-3 and also have no problems with the grip. Go with whichever you like the look of. You won't be disappointed.

I wish I could agree with my RAT brothers and sisters, but unfortunately I can't. I think that dry, yes the linen micarta and G10 are almost comparable. Wet, depending on the substance, the G10 can get quite slippy. The linen can get a little bit slippy, but not much. Now as for the canvas micarta, I don't care what you get on it, that knife is staying in your hand. I very much prefer the canvas micarta. My linen micarta and G10 handles get some texture from the dremell. Then it doesn't matter what gets on them.

Izula arrived today and just got notification the RC-4 shipped and I would think I should get it Tuesday. What a great Saturday.:D
