RC-4 Sheath Question - Photos Added

I picked up an RC-4 a while back and have used and abused it. No real issues. Here's the strange part though; it seems like my kydex sheath shrunk! I know that's not possible, I think  but the very tip of the blade sticks out a few millimeters through the drain whole and it either snags up my truck seat or my hand when I sweep it by. How could this be? I know the blades have a forever warranty, but what about the sheaths? Does anyone happen to have an RC-4 sheath laying around they don't need? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks

Did you try snugging up the screws on the sheath? How is the blade retention? Does it still lock into the sheath?

I guess I never realized the tip of the blade is so close to the end of the sheath.

Do a what? The tip shouldn’t ever protrude from the drain hole. Tighten all the screws down. Has there been any chance of the sheath getting heated up and deformed? Posting some good pics would help if you can.

Sheath has never been in the heat or messed with. Retention is great. I will check the screws when I get home. Needless to say, the first time I found out it was sticking out a bit was a bit painful and surprising!

Dude, please post up some detailed pics of this. Never heard of this problem before

I've been playing with the 4 knife and sheath since I read this and the sheath would literally have to shrink more than a 1/2" for the tip to stick out the drain hole. I want to see pics.

I will post some later. I'm at work. I agree, it would have to shrink or the knife would have to grow. I'm 99% sure neither of those happened!

If he’s anything like the rest of us around here he is probably trying to stick a 6 in the sheath for a 4. :D

Did you get water on the knife? If so, it might have swelled up.

Yes, rubbing on it will make it swell also

It's a 4. It's my only ESEE until my 5 gets here in a few days! :) It has never been wet. I've used it to batton wood, cut steaks and stab some bugs. Nothing more.

Ok here are the pics are promissed. It was hard to get the right angle, but you can see how the tip of the blade sticks out just enough to be dangerous. No mods have ever been done to the sheath. I hope Jeff can help me out here!

Appears to be a perfect fit, but look really close at the tip:

No mods:

This has stabbed me more than once:

So, as you can see, this is a bit dangerous. All screws are tight and retention is perfect, but somehow either the blade is a bit too big or the sheath is a bit too small. Does anyone have an extra? Jeff, can ya help a brother out?

The problem is you have an aftermarket sheath that someone didn’t make right. I’d get a factory sheath from ESEE or one from another quality kydex bender.

See the difference between yours and the factory sheath here. I take it you bought this used perhaps? Look at the bright side, it would be a good time to get a Martin Swinkels sheath. :D Or Dale at The Knife Connection has them for about $30 shipped.

Yep, that's not our sheath. The factory ESEE-4 sheath is much better than that one. Whoever made that sheath wasn't really thinking.

Man that looked so familiar, where had I seen that before? At first I wondered if it was a reheated Bravo-1 sheath!
