RC-4 vs Becker Companion...(handles)

I've read alot about the RC-4 handles being 'boxy' and not real comfortable. I'm wondering about the handles on the Becker Companion. They look to be somewhat thicker, less flat.
Anyone own both, or handled both that can clue me in? I'm 6' 2'' and have kinda big hands and although i was initially going to buy the RC-4, now i'm wondering if the companion will feel better in my hand.
Thanks.

If you're 6' 2" with big hands, I think the Becker handles are going to feel much, much better to you. Just remember, though, that the BK-2 is not only an inch and one quarter longer, but it's a quarter inch thick, too: it's actually a much bigger knife than the RC-4, and consequently much heavier.

i have both and used both extensively. they are very different knives, imho. as far as handle shape, the bk-2 is definitely more comfortable but i prefer using the esee-4 for feather sticks or any detailed work. the bk-2 competes with the rc-5 instead of the 4.

what are you planning on using it for?

^Eh, mainly just my 'go to' blade. Kinda just all-around...camping, hiking, cutting up meat, etc. Prolly see how it does on skinning/gutting deer too. A good solid blade is nice for those pelvic bone cuts during the field dress.
Lot's of people say you need a finer/more specific blade for working inside animals/skinning, but i've done that stuff with recon tantos before, lol, and it wasn't that big of a deal, so the companion looks like a better knife for all that stuff...a good all-arounder.
My main concern was how it felt in my hands. A good sturdy grip is what i want.
I know many will say knives are tools and you need a different blade for different jobs, but i can't let this blade thing get like my gun thing...you know, a border-line obsession. I can't afford to turn around a year from now and notice i own $5000.00 worth of knives...my wife would end up using them on me.
She's one feisty Filipina.
Thanks guys.

From all that you're saying, I think the BK-2 Campanion would be best for you. It's a great all around, do-it-all knife, with a great handle.

Nothing at all wrong with the RC-4, ESEE makes good products, but in this case, I'd go with the BK-2.

Personally I like palm swells better then flat scales. The full Becker grip is great, very comfortable and super ergonomic .

I couldn't agree more with JV3. The RC5 competes with the BK2. The RC4 competes more with the Bravo 1. Not sure if Becker has a blade that compares to the RC4. I had both kept the Bravo 1. The handle was overall better. Better contour, better shape, bigger, not boxy. The BK2 is a pry bar, it is thicker, bigger, and tougher. But I do have a crush on the ESEE knives...and the warranty!!! The BEST!

But back to the grip. The RC4 is a box! It is small yet tough. I like the unfinished Micarta. ESEE is know for a boxy micarta handle. The ESEE handles will hold up better than the Beckers...but you can get micarta handles for certain becker blades.
