I've seen a lot of threads comparing the RC-4 to the TAK. I think everyone is going to be surprised since the RC-4 has a completely different feel to it. Remember, the RC-4 is an RC-3 handle with a longer blade. The TAK handle is huge in comparison. Weight difference is going to be considerable. I haven't weighed the RC-4 proto yet since I'm waiting on a production model, but the TAK weighs about 11 ounces without sheath, and the RC-4 will be more along the lines of 7 to 8 ounces without sheath. While a 3 to 4 ounce difference may not seem like a lot, it is roughly 3/4 the weight of the TAK. I don't put the TAK and the RC-4 in the same league, personally.

That's good to hear. I have a TAK, and the only thing I don't like is the fact that it is a little too heavy duty for me to use as an EDC. The RAT3's and RC-3's are nice, but having that blade a little bigger without adding a lot of handle weight will be real nice.

The handle on th RC-3 is perfect for me. Add a longer blade and it only gets better. Ounces are the devil.

Now all we need is an RC-12 with a 3/32" thick blade for the swamps/jungle/mountain type and I will stop buying blades.

That would be a cool blade, Bear. Our kinda stuff...sort of a high-dollar, high-quality machete. Not sure there would be a big market for that type of blade though. Of course we never thought we would sell RTAKs either. ;)

I wouldn't stop buying blades but I would buy that one (too) !
