i ordered an rc-5 off ebay (ksf was out of the plain edges and i needed one asap) and received it yesterday. it is a beautiful knife and i absolutely love it but i was under the impression it would have a saber grind and mine seems to have just a normal v-grind, same as the rc-3 and izula. am i mistaken? confused so if anyone could help clear this up i would greatly appreciate it.

What do you mean? The edge is a V grind. The sabre refers to there being a flat spot before tapering toward the edge.

I am sure that sounds wrong, but it sounded good in my head.

holy crap i am stupid! go ahead and delete this because i am an idiot. i was confused and thought a saber grind was completely different than it actually is. sorry for wasting space, Jeff and Mike keep on making incredible knives and everyone else, thank you for indulging my ignorance.

I'm glad it was just confusion; I thought someone fooled you into buying a Ontario RAT-5 (which is a flat grind, not a sabre).

Don't feel dumb Bro, all the different grinds and blade styles and handle materials can get a bit cornfusing until you've spent way too much time on here like alot of us.

You'll have way too much useless info in your head soon enough.:D

I thought the same thing about the RAT 5 from Ontario right after I posted the first time. Make sure it says RC 5

I always thought saber grinds were made for knife fighting while drunk.

i got a sabre grind and a chisel grind confused, either way i would probably get some funny looks toting it in a bar. right before i got hauled off by the police

yeah, but just think of the stories you could tell your kids!
