RC-6 handle compared to RC-5

I recently traded my RC-5 because it was just a little too chunky, and I've been strongly considering the RC-6 (along with a dizzying variety of other possibilities) for a general use outdoors knife.

Anyway, my question is whether the RC-6 feels slimmer in hand than the RC-5...I know it should be lighter, but the handles look close to identical, and I'm curious if the thinner blade stock makes an appreciable difference in how the knife feels in hand.

For comparison purposes, I just got an RC-4, and it feels perfect, which leads me to suspect that the RC-6 will likely feel similarly oversized for my hands.

Thanks :D

My RC-6 does indeed feel slimmer in the hand than my RC-5.

The linen scales also have a smoother feel than the canvas,

Hope this helps a little. :)

Thanks,

That's roughly in line with what I was suspecting. Looks like I'm probably going to be getting another RAT Cutlery knife...eventually, anyway ;)

If you felt the five was too big, the six does indeed feel lighter and slimmer in the hand. The handles are nearly identical, but it just feels perfect to me.

The handles are exactly the same shape, the scales are interchangeable.

The thinner stock does make them slightly smaller in diameter though.

My recommendation is to get the 6 and try it out, easy enough to move RATs along on the exchange if it doesn't work for you.

Don't have a 5,but the 6 fits my hands like it was made for me.My 4 felt good thickness wise, same as the 6,but the handles were a little on the short side for me.So,I gave the 4 to my wife and bought the 6,no regrets..

That's the plan ;)

I kind of thought the same thing when I handled an RC5 at a gun show a couple weeks ago. Little chunky. But I've always thought the 6 would be more useful than the 5 for what I want it for anyways.

That's what I'm thinking as well. It wasn't necessarily the handle slabs themselves, so much as the overall combination that was too chunky...anyway, I'm confident that the RC-6 will be entirely more along the lines of what I'm looking for to compliment my RC-4.

Thanks for the input

Well, I got my RC-6 in from NGK the other day, and it turns out that my hands are a bit on the small side for it as well. Guess I should have seen that coming. Thankfully, NGK is awesome and they're letting me return :)

Looks like I'll be sticking to the RC-4 and the Izula.
