Ok...what do you think? I'm sure this has been discussed. Those of you who have the serrations...do you find them more useful?

I used to be big on serrations and wanted them on all of my knives. Then I happened to order one without them and liked it much more without them. You have more cutting edge space and a good sharp edge I think works just as good as some serrations. None of my ESEE knives have them and I couldn't be happier!

Personally, I find no use for serrations. In my opinion, they limit the usefulness of the knife. For things like bushcraft use, they are actually more of a disadvantage, make tasks like notching more difficult, for instance. They are, at best, only marginally useful for cutting softer materials that you could cut with a sharp, plain edge.

Just my $.02, as I know some folks find them useful.

i like them boath the next ESEE 3 I get will have serrations.I have a ESEE 5 without them now.

I waver. Good for cutting non organic stuff, hard to sharpen. I own no knives with them, considering a 4 with....

To me its personal choice. I don't know why some have issues sharpening serrations, I haven't had a problem since day one (circa 1990) The serrations on the RC knives are so much easier than the close set ones that its a non issue.

Get what you like and be happy with it. :D

i agree with leatherman, it is a choice, i prefer plain edge because a combo edge doesnt give you sufficient space to be able to use the serrations or plain edge to their fullest capability, but that is just my opinion. ;)

I only ever take serrations on my really small EDC folders. And even then they're only situationally useful, where a plain edge is always useful. Serrations just take away from the overall size of the usable edge, in my opinion. This is especially bad on a bigger knife like the 6, where the whole point of having it is to have a large cutting edge...

All the ESEE knives I own are the plain edge blades. The RC-3, RC-4, RC-5 & the Izula is not available with serrations. If I need serrations; I can use my Leatherman Charge Multi-tool.

the RC-3, RC-4 AND RC-5 are ALL available with partial serrations...

Scotty D has been a busy little thread resurrect-er!

Honestly, getting your RP number at light speed doesn't really have any fringe benefits. Aside from raising old threads from the dead and irritating some older members. :p
