Hey yall. I have a Ontario Rat 7 and well I was thinking of returning it. The reason for this is: the micarta handles are not flush with the tang, the edge came ground uneven, and the edge dents and rolls easily. Strange. I've been looking at the RC-6 as a replacement and my question to you guys is what you think of the RC-6? Thanks.

The RC-6 is the best field knife you can buy at this price point. Period.

edit-It's arguably one of the best at any price point, but I was considering some customs.

You will hear a lot of people say the RC-6 is their favorite RAT. I hope to add one to my collection. I don't think you could go wrong. The RC knives over the RAT by Ontario seems like a no brainer to me.

I have an Ontario TAK-1 in D2 that has the same problems with the handle slabs as your Rat 7, but while the edge on mine is good the spine looks like someone dressed it up with a rasp. Other than the cosmetic issues it's a pretty good knife.

I have an RC6 and an RC4 and the fit and finish on them are perfect. The edges are great and they were both shaving sharp out of the package. I couldn't be happier with them!

hi, i have a ontario rat7 too, i also have the rc6 and it is a much nicer fit and finish knife. shavin sharp too and the sheath offers much more versatility. not to mention the warranty is the best.

take it easy

Were steep in the RC knives we just got our order in today!

We just got our order today, We filled allot of our back orders and we still have a good selection of RC Knives. The only knife we are short of right now is the H.E.S.T.

I actually tried to contact you on ebay about the Rat 7 (I am not happy with it) but I haven't gotten a reply back. As I said in my first message I was wanting to return it so I could buy a RC-6. Maybe something can be worked out?

Well anywho. Has anyone taken the RC-6 out in the woods? Can anyone comment on this?

If I could only have one knife it would be the RC-6. GREAT knife.

Please call us Monday morning and we will get this worked out for you.

I have used my RC6 to baton a lot of wood, and do minor chopping when needed. The edge has help up well, I have had zero rolls in the edge, and zero chipping. The RC6 is my work horse when a larger knife is needed.

The rc6 does quite well In the woods. Rides nice, and gets the job done.

As for the rat7, ontarios QC isn't as tight as rowen's, but Ive got to ask how you dinged and rolled the edge. Sounds like if you've used it, you're going to have to either like it, sell it, or convnce Ontario the steels bad. I love my rc6, but I've never gotten an unuseble Ontario either.

It was dinged chopping on wood. I don't understand how either. I looked on the Ontario site and I don't see anything about their warranty or returning knives..
