How good at RC's making fuzz sticks - compared to a scandi/sabre-grind knife which IMO is the best for that kind of work (havent tried a RC yet) ???

Im currently considering the Izula.

I find the Izula and RC-3 to be the best at whittling.

Hello Silent1, welcome to bladeforums and the RAT forum.

Your right, a scandi grind is most likely the best when it comes to wood working.

I'm not going to say that an Izula is going to work as well but it'll give you good performance when dealing with a wide variety of materials as well as having a more robust, longer lasting edge.

I've yet to hear anyone complain about their Izula, everyone seems to love them.

Oh, and about your english, it sure is better than I could do with your language, no need to appologize.

Sorry, you know I can't resist taking a jab at you.;)

In regards to the question by the op. I think shotgunner covered it good. It won't whittle wood as well as most Scandi's, but as Bear shows it will work.

Then again, I think Bear can fuz a stick with a butter knife...

I agree again Tony about the comparison to a scandi. I also would like to add that I myself as well as many others around here seem to worry about the look of their fuzzies but I have a simple rule about fuzzies. If it will catch on fire in no more than 2 seconds, it's good enough for me. Once it hits the fire no one cares how nice it looked in the first place. Whittle on!

By the way Silent 1, your english is fine and thanks for the post.

Used my Izula for a (fatwood)fuzz stick yesterday. Me and my boys had to grill up some fresh caught fish on a makeshift grill by the creek. I used to cheat with cotton balls dabbed with vasoline but the fuzzstick makes a better challenge with my trusty firesteel.

bearthedog fantastic pictures - thank You
Shotgunner thanks for the advice to !

Good to WJC01 - nice to hear that the izula does the job, while having a good time with Your boys
