RC for W1

so i have a few old files that are made out of W1 and id like to get a proper HT for them after i take them to the forge and pound/grind them into shape

they will be used for mostly Rigger edc (ie cutting rope, cardboard boxes, cutting up some wood rough stuff mostly)

i plan on making them around a 5in x 1/4in x 1 1/2in for the blade, preferably differential HT and a stick tang where i can handle it myself

so i guess i have two main questions

1. obviously what RC

and

2. would a differential HT on W1 be a good idea vs just a plain old HT and is there anyone who will do it
