For our anniversary in September my lady bought me a E Flite Blade CP http://www.hobbyzone.com/rc_helicopters_e-flite_blade.htm. I've never flown any RC before so she of course went straight to the hardest thing to fly she could find. Not wanting to purchase tons of replacement parts I purchased the RealFlight G3 RC simulator. So with extra parts, battery upgrades, charger upgrades, blade and motor upgrades, and the training simulator I've got about $750 in this little toy. It took me about 3 weeks just to learn to hover the sim. Did my first real hover (of any length) today. This isn't the full flight. Right after this clip I started drifting toward a fence so I cut the power and let it drop (only needs a $4 part). Pretty exciting toy. Anyone else here fly RC Helos? Here is a vid from my phone below.

Very cool, DC. Looks like you're getting the hang of it. Maybe we can get Ken Cox over here to give you some pointers. :)

That's a pretty cool Helo Bobby. Have you flown a RC Helo before? Like trying to balance a marble on a bowling ball...

I am still on the simulator. Kinda like the monkey and the football.
I haven't been able to get away from building knives long enough to put it together.

Actually no it's not. It used to be pretty hard about 15 years ago. As of late things have come a long way and they are not nearly as hard as they were 15 years ago.

Edit:

I should qualify my statement by saying that I've flown them before and am not half bad. I used to have a M.A.S.H. Style helo about 15 years ago. Hard as heck to fly. Had the training stuff on the skids and fliped it over and tore the rotor all up. I've never flown anything but gas powered stuff. :) I however fly real airplanes. Largest I've flown is a twin engine Piper.

Very fun and I wish you luck. Doin' pretty good already bud :).

one of my buds flys helos for the Tx Nat'l guard and he wrecked another buds model chopper (broke the main rotor blades), he said the 2 didnt relate to each other lol. this was in '92 or so though they might have changed some, i know they sure looked very hard to fly then........and my other bud was mad the blades were $200 IIRC.
