Anyone know the avg. hardness of the Queen D2 blades? I am considering a Country Cousin (AKA Sodbuster), and was curious.

Just hung up with Queen customer service, they indicate 58-59. I have plenty of blades around that range that I really like, but no D2 blades whatsoever.

D2 has very large carbides, it'll be wear resistant even when soft. Same went for S60V/440V, it had to be left at around 56-57 because it chipped easily, but new grinding wheels had to be made to manufacture the knives. If the steel ends up developing large burrs from a soft matrix, and has really wear resistant carbides in that matrix, it's a one-two punch to sharpening attempts.
