Hello,

yes this is a trap, but this will be one day a redondant thread like now: RC3 vs HEST, RC4 vs RC3, RC5 VS RC6...

I see a bunch of new very active forumites fresh from 2009-2010, coming and participating and... this is great !:)

Now, I also see some tendances and behaviors which could be avoided. So please newbies:

-posting an answer is not just like leaving a turd in a sandbox. It's good to answer to the thread AND not to be redondant, BUT try also to participate and elaborate.

-Posting a thread is great, but try to read the forum before to post another thread which has been discussed so many times... I know, if you want the search button you need to upgrade your account... but you can also read the forum (even on your smart phone) and learn a loooot of things about Rat Cutlery and their products.

So please: enrich the threads and the posts. Think quality not quantity and more than ever have fun reading and exchanging experiences.:)
Use a language which can be understood by all the world (we are many non us citizen forumites as well)

Read the rules and respect them:

Cheers
Nemo

Now I prefer the RC-13 because it's foldable and the solar panel is a must on a light saber. RC-13 Plasma cutter edition rocks !!!!
:D

Newbies want their rat pack number so that they can join the competitions and whatnot.

Yes I know  This is where this generous system is perverted.
Pushing quantity over quality...:grumpy:

But, in the end don't we got excellent moderators who are monitoring all that from behind the barrel of their shotguns, do we ?:D

I think the value of this frum is not just the learning, but that it motivates me to get more to get out and push my experiances a little harder

Good point. Motivation also is important.
As his friendship around here.

yea if we could consolidate and stop sharpening threads , izula folder threads , i got my new RC-* threads. and just stack on whats there .... even if you only go to page 2 on this forum most of these are extreamly common topics not warrenting there own thread...

he i have done it ... so im not singling any one out... but i guess Lurk moar! is appropriate... the rat pack is not going any where , and contributing a little bit to on going threads helps us old grumpy people keep up....

and ill stick to my rc-24

Nemo. Great advice for many. Just to ad though one can use the search feature, just not the BF one, without paying. (I feel it is worth paying and supporting the site) For new ones read this on how to search BF: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367558

Read more and post less is still the way I feel about things, though dont be afraid of asking questions, it is the only way to learn

I agree Nemo. I've held similar feelings for some time now, but did not feel it appropriate for myself to demand this of other members, as I do not often post.

Hah, I just realised that this lack of posting constitutes a neverending cycle: I don't post often, because many threads on the RAT forum are repeating the same topics, but I don't want to voice my opinion, because I don't post often, because many threads on the RAT forum are repeating the same topics, ad infinitum...;) Alright, I'll try to make an effort to contribute a bit more around here.

Honestly, I don't think you COULD single anyone out for it! Too many folks, ya' know. ;):D

dude, I love reoccurring threads... It's an excuse to post photos all over again, and I don't have to take new ones!

I am not a Newbie but I do want a Rat pack #. I would never post just to bump up my stats. If my posts are found lacking please reject my request for a # when I choose to ask for one

IF you don't at least post one wasteful thread about bacon, I'm going to petition for blockage....

MMMM , bacon. I like to wrap my bacon in bacon and marinate it in beer.
Dame now I want a BLT.
I still don't know if the RC11 or RC13 is best.

The thing that makes me shudder is bumping a 2 or 3 year old post. I really don't mind people asking opinions about what knife for X job because those threads get pushed back into oblivion in no time.

I agree that the worst is asking about how to get a RP number. But in all honesty "Taking the RAT Pack to the next level!" isn't the best name. They should change the name of the stick to "Get your Rat Pack number here!"

Same goes with people asking about the shelter contest because the thread is named "Yet another contest..."

It's an internet forum, sometimes you will want to slap your forehead and shake your head, but what can you do.

Oh and none of the above, I would prefer the RC-14 or 16. A 14 or 16" machete with micarta or orange G-10 scales.

I had bacon wrapped "haggis" at thanksgiving...
that RC11 did a great job of slicing it up - and defending my plate from the family, plus the bacon grease left a nice patina and protected the edge from rust.

:D

What?? :o
You got a solar panel:o
mine just has a nuclear power source :grumpy:

Lol :D

If everyone just thinks before they post and try to act like an adult(don't look at what's above this ;)) and posts serieus questions and gives serieus answers that's perfect :D, if they have humour on top of that that's even better :D

I'd say welcome to all the newcomers and enjoy the RAT forum :D

I don't mind seeing a 2-3 year old thread bumped if it hasn't been covered recently and is something that can still be discussed and expounded on.
