RC3 Necker?

Has anyone here carried their RC3 upside down as a necker? If so, does the sheath grab it tight enough to be safe under strenuous circumstances -- like could you do jumping jacks without worrying about your body parts? Also, is it too heavy or not too heavy?

IMO it's a little bigger than what I'd like to carry as a neck knife although I hate things around my neck so I'm prolly a little biased. As far as sheath lock up, it's superb. As a matter of fact I just picked mine up and shook it vigorously trying to get it to fall out and it wouldn't. So I think it's safe to say that if you wanted to carry it around your neck it'd be quite secure and you wouldn't have to worry much about it coming out accidently.

edited: but of course always follow the manufacturers instruction! I don't want to be the guy you point it when it falls out and stabs you in the foot!! :p

Maybe so, but I've carried it that way before without problems. Of course, I don't opt for jumping jacks while carrying all my gear. I haven't done it in a while though, it is kind of heavy for the neck.

It won't come out with jumping jacks. We do a 4-foot drop test on these sheaths.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the sheath. I'd me more concerned about the weight flopping around. It's a bit heavy to be a necker. Inverted under-arm carry, though; THAT'S a possibility. ;)

Funny you should mention that. I ordered the MercHarness on Saturday, and it should be here today or tomorrow. I was trying to figure out which knife I wanted to try it out with, and the RC3 was one of the first to come to mind. I'll give it a shot and report back with how it works. :D

Seems like something you could mock up pretty easily with some paracord and knots to see if you liked it.

awesome., I too have a mercharness but I never thought to use it with the RC-3.., interested to hear how it works out for you as I'm too lazy to dig my mercharness outta the closet right now, I think the wife has my box of knife stuff buried by now! :D

Why the angry face? As far as I'm concerned if you want a neck knife, buy a neck knife--like the Izula. The RC-3 excels in many areas...but neck carry was not a design concern so it shouldn't be expected to perform at a task it wasn't designed for. :)
