RC4 Choil?

Hi All,
I'm close to ordering an RC4, but wanted to ask about the choil. Is it a usable size and necessary on this length of blade?

After getting back from a 2 week trip using my Fallkniven F1, I thought
"Something with a similar blade shape in carbon steel with a flat grind/ secondary bevel would be the perfect knife..."
Voila! I see the RC4.

Thanks in advance.

I find it really nice and functional.
I have big hands, and found it a tad small, so i just filed a very slight radius where the choil meets the blade, barely noticeable, but did the trick comfort wise

How large are your hands? It's been noted that people with more chunky or beefy hands have problems using the choil. Maybe Jeff can chime in on what size range hands the RC-4 was made for.

I have a size 8.5 hand, and it works just fine.

Glove size measurement

My hand is about 9 3/8" around, and I found my RC-4 just slightly small, but all it took was literally 2 minutes with a file and it was perfect

My hand size is a little over 8.5 and the RC-4's choil does not bother my index finger at all.

I'm always using the choil on my RC-3 and 4. Very usable for me.

I found the choil small but usable on the -3 and -4. The knife choil on the RC-6 is just right.

My RC4 is one of my favorite knives. It quickly became my EDC blade. It works and serves every purpose I've needed it for without fail. Neither too big nor two small for most tasks.
