Ok ,I go to a nature trail area close by generic hiking trails and a fishing pond and Instead of getting pictures of the RC4 in action I get side tracked by a not so common animal in my area...I was stringing up my PSK fishing line to fish the murky water ,when to my right a 3.5" alligator or Caiman(pet store release?) swam by me not more than 6ft. away the pic with my RC4 and cell phone, wallet on ground is because I spent all freaking day trying to catch him, bare handed of course in the water...but I never got closer than 3ft to him.after I gave up I called local Police and they notified parks&wildlife:D

Holy sh!t dude - that'll wake you up!

Yep, most likely a house pet release after the idiot that bought it realized that it actually grows....

I was waiting for a pic of the RC4 slicing through the belly of that thing.

Did you stick around for F&W to get there?

Tony, not sure where you are but when I lived in Houston we had plenty of gators in local ponds.

If you want to snag him, he should be easy to hand catch at night. Just put a light in his eyes to blind him and ease up on him and grab him behind the head.

You guys have bigger balls than I do.
I see a gator, I go the other way.
'Course most of the ones I see are old timers in the 8+ foot range.

Nice kit on knife I've thought about it,but aren't you worried about getting
it snagged on stuff or things falling out say if you fell or fell in water just thinkin'
about what ifs.........

20 minutes south of dallas, and in my area these gators are rare site....I mean extremely rare site....like I stated i believe he was a pet store release.....I was not scared at all,I wanted to catch him bad , I coulda scored some great pic with my rc4. i do not believe f&w still have not shown.:D

:D what ifs are cool,I used black para cord to make a sling to cross carry across my back or under arm....It never snagged once... I held set up upside down and shook it pretty hard several times and nothing moved or fell out.
what ifs make peoples kits better....I left it on the bank while wading into the water for the baby gator....only item on me was my Blade tech folder !

Reminds me of growing up in the Everglades.

Tony, you must be somewhere close to Beaumont, TX, or thereabouts.

Is that spider in the second pic a common spider for the area? I noticed nobody else commented on how huge it is. I guess being from the Pacific Northwest we just don't see spiders that big.

Yeah some what common in wooded areas, they get a little larger than that, she had a egg sac under her so I did not want to disturb her to much...

I was wondering when someone was going to bring up the spider.
One thing you get used to in the south is really big insects and arachnids.

Spiders are my friends. In Florida, it doesn't matter how clean you are, you will have bugs. I learned a long time ago that the bananna (especially the golden orb spinner variety) and wolf spiders I have in my house keep me almost entirely insect-free, as to the enormous number of tree frogs outside.
