If I have a RC4 plain blade and an Izula, and I purchased the RC5 for when the SHTF or for survival would you recommend serrations or no serrations? Please provide your reason.

If you maintain the edge, a plain blade will probably do everything that you want it to do. If the blade is not kept sharp, the serrated part may help out in a bind especially if you are cutting fibrous materials.

++ on that, I prefer the plain edge......

I find the serrations on my RC-4 are great for cutting spruce boughs, shaving cedar bark into fluffy strips for tinder, and ESEE serrations are very easy to sharpen. No issues with batoning so far. But my Rc-5s are plain edge. :D
