Hi all. I am looking to get a kydex sheath for my RC6. I haven't seen any sheaths for sale so if anyone knows where i can get one, it would be great.

Also if anyone has one, please post a picture of it. I would really like to see some options.

Does the kydex loosen up like the molded plastic sheath?

Thanks

Our own Shotgunner11 makes some nice kydex sheaths. You can see a couple examples for other knives at his website www.doublebarrelsheaths.com and get his contact info. I think he does both fold over and pancake styles depending on what you're looking for.

Kydex can loosen a bit over time, but for the most part they are very durable. One advantage of kydex is that it can be heated gently and the retention put back like the day it was new.

It's a trade off between Kydex and injection molding. Kydex can be gently heated to reform it but that is also the same characteristic that contibutes to it's negative aspect. It fails at extreme temps. I had a guy send me an ESEE 4 Kydex sheath back that must have been too near a heat source and 'ballooned' out of shape beyond him reforming it. It will also shatter if hit hard at very low temps. So too hot and too cold and Kydex does not perform and that is where injection molding shines. But you are correct that once injection molded sheaths wear and loose their retention they are done because the plastic has a memory and so it cannot be reshaped by heating it.

Just made this one the other day:

Thanks for all the responses guys. Shotgunner i really like your personal sheath with the firesteel loop. Do you think it would be possible to make one for belt carry? Maybe with a kind of backing for it including a snap on the handle? What would you charge for one of those sheaths as is?
