Was this a single edge or double edge piece, or was it available in both forms?

As far as i know, the AL MAR Pathfinder is only available in single edge form. BUT!...i've handled a double edge Pathfinder when i was in Singapore visiting a knife shop. The owner bought it about 5-6 years ago and it was a limited piece with serial number!

The top edge is a false edge on both the 14" Pathfinder and the smaller 10" version. They have both been out of production for a while, but they have the Small Pathfinder over at AG Russell www.k-c-c.com/special/eal9a/index.html with a $345 pricetag on it.

I recently had the very good fortune to pick one up at a dealer in Berlin for DM385, which is something like $170 right now. It is a very neat piece - a real collectors item, that definitely is not going to see any use!

There seems to have been at least two version of the knife.

The Pathfinder was the single edge version and the Quest was the double edge version; both, where available in 10 and 14" bladelengths.

All are currently out of production.

I have a double edge Pathfinder, direct from Al Mar, I got it in about 86-87. Ive got the scar on my finger to attest to the double edge.

I have a single edged Pathfinder. I remember that Cutlery Shoppe listed both the single and double edged models. I am not too crazy about the grip....kinda bulky. I like my BKT Brute better.

I have the 14" double-edged version. Sleep comes soundly knowing it is in the nightstand next to me

I have the single edge 14" version.

I still feel that the knife was marketed under two different names:
Single edge= Pathfinder I and Pathfinder II
Double edge= Quest I, and Quest II

Can anyone confirm this.
