I took apart my Super Commander because it was very gritty and I got it secondhand. After cleaning all the parts, I realized I only have some "Sword oil" in the house, and maybe some WD-40. The oil is Hanwei. Will this work? And would it hurt if I went a day without oil? I have Benchmade Bluelube at my work. Thanks!

Greg

I just use a drop of 40 on occasion. I would not let the folder go unlubed.

Do you think that a few drops of the Hanwei Oil, or WD-40 would protect the pivot until tomorrow?

I have had my knives go unlubed for weeks with no problems. I only use a few spots of tuffglide for lube and thats been fine for me.

The washers them selves are "self lubing" so in theory don't need any, The pivot has a black coating to protect it so untill that is totally gone it will be fine also.

I really wouldnt worry about it :)

Thanks everyone! I took everything apart, and wiped down all the grit. It was quite nasty. I used a q-tip to re apply some of my sword oil to the washers. Seems to be smooth. Just need to locktite the pivot screw. Now I want to know the liners material. Titanium or steel?

The liners are Ti, there is apparantly some knives with an ss liner on the non locking side though.

I have a 2007 CQC-13 and both liners are ti.

I think it depends on the year, but couldn't say for sure.

Look at the liners in good light and you should be able to tell.....

at least the lock side is Ti anyway, on all models i know of.:o
