I suspect that a number of people have a problem with re-assembling a button lock auto like the Benchmade 2550 after cleaning or replacing a spring. It's easy, if one follows the following steps:
1. Hold the knife in a small vise, which can be clamped to the sides of the pocket clip.
2. Insert mainspring, button spring, and button.
3. Insert blade (open position) until it contacts the end of the mainspring.
4. Holding the blade in place, use a small putty knife or screwdriver to rotate the end of the mainspring ccw until it engages the hole in the blade.
5. Re-assemble the other half of the frame.
Note - trying to insert the button after the blade is in place doesn't work.
