re-blade a 110

I haven't done it yet, I was hoping someone would offer some tips here. I might need them soon.

I have blades sitting here now, and have a few broken blade bucks on the way...

How can I put a new blade on my 110? Is it difficult to do myself?

Not all that difficult...DarrylS has a tutorial on how to do it, I believe... :p

Here's a pic I pulled off the web...Someone did a "How I Did It" some time back, but no one was very interested, so he deleted it...

Some of us have found that an inexpensive 1-ton arbor press from Harbor Freight is a big help...

Cool !
Links to how-tos and tutorials would be greatly appreciated!
I just picked up a cheap used 110 on ebay last night.
Cheap because it was modded- has a broken tip that had been nicely reshaped.

So i can also send it to Buck for be re-bladed (for a fee) right?
Are you limited to 420HC or can you get one of the custom shop blades put on it?
Not that theres anything wrong with 420HC.
I like it a lot in my 110, 102,119 and 124.

You can send it in, and they will reblade it but it will depend on how old the knife is. They don't have parts for some of the older 110's (I think).
Also I do not believe that they do blade upgrades anymore. If you want upgraded steel, you should look into the custom shop ;)
If it is a 420HC 110, they may replace the blade or just a new knife.

If you have the replacement blade its pretty easy. The harbor freight arbor press was a good tip! I just picked one up tonight and pushed the pin out of the front bolster. I had some punches I planned on using to push it out, but they were too long for the little 1/2 ton press I got, so I used the smallest torx bit I could find. It worked great.

The new blade I had included a bushing and brass pin, so I put the bushing in the blade, slapped it in the knife, and pushed in the brass pin. I actually have a nickel silver pin I will use for this particular knife, but it is the same thing either way. I want to say the pin is 1/8", but I could be completely wrong there...
