The Micro show went off very well. attendance was up and the sales were brisk to say the least. I was really happy with how it turned out.

We started last year a thing at this point we call the "Cutlery Think Tank". This year it went on for a bit over 2 1/4 hours and we just had to cut if off. There were numerous people that came up later and said they had more questions.
What we did was we set the 4 makers up facing the non makers present. We just have open honest questions, debates and thoughts on subjects as it relates to knives. This can cover any subject. It is very helpful to both maker and non makers and gives better insight as to what is going on in this field and where we need to be going. As a result of this I now have a facebook page. We are in the process of trying to start up a collector mentor program as well.

JR Cook, Terry Vandeventer and Shawn McIntyre all brought some very good pieces that showed they were stretching their skill levels and there were some good values at the show. The makers that were present at the Show work hard at what they produce and it is a huge encouragement when you support them. The custom makers of the cutlery world depend on people like you willing to support it in order to keep growing. Knife makers will never be rich, this is something they feel driven to do, something in their mind they must create. Your support is a confirmation that their choice in life has made a difference and what they create will last for generations. Thanks to all of you that were there.

We always eat really well. :)

I was busy so I have no photographs but Buddy is working up something special so you will have to stay tuned for that later.

Dan Peterson and Jim Crowell both master smiths are the makers voted to be there for the 2013 show. Both of these makers are well known in their respective areas of expertise reguarding the cutlery world so I think this will make a wonderful show for next year. They will bring some exciting pieces and can add a lot to our Cutlery Think Tank.

I have been lucky enough to attend all 8 Fisk Microshows. It is the best knife event that I have attended, Hammer-ins are fun and Knife Shows are great, but this is on my yearly don't miss list.

Every year they seem to get better. The makers bring their best work, the food is awesome, and Jerry comes up with new things to do besides look at great knives.

This year Jerry had a Hog Hunt a few days before the show on some private land in the Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge.

I am from the North and we don't have wild hogs up here yet, but I know that Arkansas is called the Razorback State and that feral hogs do a lot of damage to crops and wildlife.

Before the hunt Jerry got us psyched up with photos of feral hogs. For 2 days about 10 of us went out morning and evening. The results were that 1 hunter saw a few hogs at an inopportune time and no hogs were shot. No one else ever saw a hog. I think that Jerry should have called it a Hogless Hunt.

It was still a great experience that I would love to repeat. I don't have any photos of the Knife Show, Buddy Thomason will have to post those, but here are some shots of the hunt.

Looks like a great time was had by all... despite the absence of hogs. I guess maybe the hogs read the flyers too and went to Florida for a vacation. ;)

I was hoping to be able to get away to attend right up until a day or so before the show, however just couldn't make it happen. :(
It's always a knife lover's paradise, with plenty of great food, great fun amount great friends and of course there's the Knives.

Jerry's done a super job of varying the activities each year to keep it fresh and interesting. We really never know what he and Bob are going to come up with
next. It's always a good combination of the regulars and the new attendees which is good because you always leave having met a new friend or two.

Yep, it's just a great "Knife Weekend" that I would recommend to any knife person.
