Re-crowning drive and tracking wheels

Just giving a shoutout to Contender Machine Contender Machine , he piped up to another knife maker's question that he could help out and re-crown some wheels... I contacted him and took him up on the offer. Super reasonably priced too. He did a fantastic job, I couldn't be more pleased :D

With proper alignment, you shouldn't need a crowned drive wheel

It’s much easier to make a belt track consistently with a crowned wheel somewhere on the machine. Could be on an idler pulley just depends on the design. It’s also just as easy to make a pulley crowned as it is to make it flat from a manufacturing standpoint.
 
I run my grinder in reverse sometimes... I wonder if it makes any difference in that regard. That would be interesting to try out
