so there i am reading all of these post about hiking and camping out, and i started thinking. I have ALOT of knives that i have gathered in my 24 years of collecting and they take up an very large chunk of space in my room...but out of all these knives which ones were good for bush work?

now i have many camping-outdoor style knives from anza, kabar, lt wright, ontario, becker, randall, and brk+t. but none seemed to embody bush craft knives. So i am looking and cleaning my knives and i start on my second cabinet at the top with all my David Farmer handmades. Now some of you know David, He was on blade forums alot in the knife makers section and had some for sale from time to time. He and i became friends and we talk alot about knives guns and interweb goons.

but i digress, so ther i am looking at the knives in the drawer and like a bolt of lightning *crackboom!!* from the sky i see the KNIFE that screams use me for bush craft!

David calls it the shadow i have another name for it: The WoodsMaster. yeah i think its corny too but it fits. i have alot of downed trees in my backyard from the 18days of continous thunderstorms here so i have alot of trees to clean up to say the least. I just decided to use this knife to do to see how well it worked for the task i gave it. so here is its review.

tip to tail length is 8 3/4 inches of solid 1095 at a rc of 57/58. 4 1/2 inch drop point blade with slight finger choil. handle thickness is only 3/4 inch and is thin top to bottom widening in the palm
convex grind and sharp as a straight razor.
i managed with a busted pinky knuckle (in cast to) the best i could for as long as i could but i managed to take most of the limbs off the tree branches with real ease and the knife never seemed to slow down. i went until my hand had alot of pain in it and i couldnt stand it anymore.
the knife took the use and smiled the whole time even though i couldnt. as for bush craft style knife i think I am now set..if it worked this good with my gimpy hand i know it will rock with my hand in good shape.

over all damn good knife after i shaped the wood on the handle and removed some hot spots and smoothed it down and for the price he charges i dont think there is much more i could ask for.

go here to find his website www.dfarmerknives.com
Dave is good people and his knives show it.
